FAQs

What is earwax?+

Earwax is a natural waxy substance produced inside the ear canal. It's a mixture of oils, fats, dead skin cells, sweat and secretions made by glands in the skin of the outer ear canal.

How can I tell if my earwax is compacted?+

The common signs are reduced hearing, a feeling of fullness or blockage, earache or discomfort, tinnitus (ringing, buzzing or humming), itchiness inside the ear, mild dizziness, and - less commonly - a reflex cough.

What is the best method of earwax removal?+

There isn't one single 'best' method for everyone. The safest, most effective method depends on your ear, the type of wax and your medical history. Following examination a fully qualified practitioner will recommend the right approach for you.

Is earwax removal safe?+

Yes - when performed by a trained practitioner using sterile equipment. We carry out a full otoscopic check before any treatment to make sure the chosen method is appropriate.

How long does an appointment take?+

Typically 20–30 minutes, including examination, treatment of both ears and aftercare advice.

Do I need to soften the wax beforehand?+

For Irrigation we recommend olive oil drops twice a day for 3–5 days. For Microsuction it's helpful but not essential - we'll advise when you book.

What happens during a mobile home visit?+

We arrive with everything needed - portable otoscope, Irrigation system, suction unit and sterile single-use tips. We just need a chair with good lighting.

What is your cancellation policy?+

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before your appointment. Late cancellations or no-shows may incur a £25 fee.

Do you offer a discount for reviews?+

Yes - leave an honest Google review, then claim a unique 10% off code that expires after 90 days (one per email). Paste the code in your booking notes and we'll apply the discount on the day.

Do you cover my postcode?+

We cover most of Kent and South-East London. The fastest way to check is the postcode tool on the Areas page; if you're slightly outside, give us a ring.

What payment methods do you accept?+

Card, contactless, cash or bank transfer - all on the day. No deposit needed when you book.

Can you treat children?+

Yes - We treat all patients from 6 years old and above. Any children must come with parental consent and have their guardian present.
